I read this paragraph below recently in one of Dan Kennedy’s newsletters and loved it. It really resonated with me. I also think that as a woman, I had to learn the hard way that “fixing or firing or fleeing or forgetting” could be productive behaviors in business. Reread this paragraph a couple times at least and in my opinion this is so powerful it is worth reading every day during the first year of business.

“Business is about confronting an endless parade of problems and disappointments–people bearing bad news. If you are not up to that, you may very well need to exit stage left. Resiliency is the numero uno characteristic required: take a hit, re-focus fast, and get on with the fixing or firing or fleeing or forgetting or whatever other productive response that may be possible.”

Lifestyle Tips for Lifestyle Entrepreneurs

I realized somewhere around the third year of owning my own business that I didn’t want to be an entrepreneur any longer if I wasn’t feeling the passion and the freedom that made me want to start my company in the first place. I now know it is possible to grow your business to 7 figures and still have freedom. Even more possible today because of all the technology and the pool of virtual talent we can tap into.

Back in 2001 when I started the National Assn of Women Writers, I didn’t have the opportunities to automate like I do today and the term virtual assistant didn’t even exist! In the last two months of our coaching program at My Millionaire Friends we focus on the Systems and the Automation. Without that information, you will not be able to experience the freedom to spend more time with the people you love—doing the things you are passionate about.
